Since Shane De Leon opened Kirks' Grocery as a unique South Side arts and gathering space in 2018, I have been impressed with how community-focused the venue is. How open-armed it is. How anyone with a creative idea – visual artists, musicians, comedians, poets, chefs –, who can figure out how to make it happen, has a place to make it so. How, with Shane and Mary Serbe at the helm, it is a constantly transforming place where so many dreams of expression find an outlet. |
As Kirks' continues to evolve, we invite you to be a part of this community!

Although Kirks’ is not a nonprofit, it is run similarly on a tight profit margin – it is supported through a mixture of membership, art sales, performance ticket sales, in-kind gifts, financial assistance, volunteers, and folks, who come in, look around and offer to help with whatever needs doing. |

These events were the latest way I used my sculptures in a social function as a framework for a welcoming gathering to nourish, nurture and grow one of the most creative aspects of Billings. It felt right to weave together my passion for community engagement, my new Transformations works, and an opportunity for the community to create collaborative art, to savor some of Chef Ash's delicious food and to enjoy some excellent music. And, for the community, in turn, to support whatever latest, imaginative growth Kirks’ has to offer “for the common good.”
