”Women Do It!” was inspired by and highlights the work of  UN Women’s HeForShe campaign, its Beijing+20 program and  in their efforts toward advancing women’s rights and gender equality in society, economics and politics.

Artists were asked to consider: What are noteworthy achievements by women? What impacts have women had on the economy, human rights, education, environment, world health, religion, politics and peace? Who are our women and girl heroes in our family and in our community? Which women do you admire in leadership, public service, sports and in the arts?

The exhibit traveled to:
  • WCA and CAA Conferences, February 2015
  • UN Commission on the Status of Women Conference, International Caucus UN Program parallel event, March 16, 2015.
  • Honey's Café, Red Lodge, MT, July 2015
  • Torpedo Factory Art Center, Washington DC, February 2016
  • Women's History Month Exhibition, St. Louis Florissant Valley Community College, March 2016
  • Arc Project Gallery, San Francisco, May 7 - June 4, 2016.

WCA AND ITS INTERNATIONAL CAUCUS
The Women's Caucus for Art (WCA), was founded in 1972, as an arts & activism non-profit that is still led by volunteer members. Its International Caucus is charged with maintaining WCA's NGO (non-governmental organization) status with the United Nations and creating opportunities and collaborations with the United Nations and other international entities.  We encourage all participants to learn more about WCA and consider joining us. Proceeds from this exhibition supported WCA International Caucus programs at the United Nations.

Women Do It! Exhibition Directors:  Priscilla Otani (Past President of WCA, Current Treasurer of WCA, Past WCA International Committee Chair, Partner at Arc Project Gallery in San Francisco),  Sherri Cornett (Past-Chair of WCA's International Caucus, Director of the Caucus' Half the Sky: Intersections in Social Practice Art project in Shenyang, China, Co-Director of Women + Body, the Caucus' collaborative exhibition in South Korea and curator.)
